The American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) has intensified its engagement with India, expanding collaborations across both the textile industry and academia. Marking a significant milestone, AATCC has established its first fashion and design-focused student chapter in India at M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bengaluru. The chapter aims to advance knowledge-sharing, enhance student participation in AATCC’s global committees, and support India’s textile sector with improved quality standards, innovation, and stronger branding—key factors as India navigates an increasingly competitive tariff-driven global market.

Gregg Woodcock, Executive Director of AATCC, visited India for the first time in November 2025. His outreach included participation at Techtextil India and the 78th Annual Conference of The Textile Association (India), South India Unit, held in Coimbatore from November 21–22. Woodcock met with industry stakeholders, institutes, and student groups, reinforcing the association’s commitment to long-term collaboration.

AATCC’s India engagement is further supported by Kanti Jasani, Chair of the AATCC Membership Committee, originally from Gujarat and now based in the U.S. Jasani’s longstanding association with the organisation has shaped his career, and he is focused on building similar opportunities for Indian students and professionals.

Dr. Mamatha Hegde, Chair of the Department of Fashion Design at Ramaiah University, will serve as Faculty Advisor to the new chapter. She noted that the collaboration will expose students to global quality standards, new innovations, and international networks in textiles and fashion.

AATCC Ambassador for India, Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar, confirmed that four additional chapters are set to launch soon, strengthening educational and industry linkages between India and the United States.
