The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) led an official textile delegation to ITMA ASIA + CITME 2025 in Singapore, the region’s premier platform for showcasing next-generation textile machinery, automation, and sustainable manufacturing technologies. The delegation comprised leading textile entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders, representing India’s expanding capabilities in sustainable, high-value and technology-driven textile production. Throughout the event, the Indian delegates engaged with global technology innovators to explore partnerships, investment opportunities, and solutions for accelerating India’s textile modernization journey.

Union Ministry of Textiles Additional Secretary, Rohit Kansal, inaugurated the Indian Pavilion at ITMA ASIA + CITME 2025. In his address, Kansal reiterated India’s ambition to build a US$350 billion textile and apparel industry by 2030, including US$100 billion in exports. The domestic textile and apparel market was valued at nearly US$180 billion in FY 2024–25, with exports contributing around US$38 billion.

As part of India’s participation, Shri Kansal also delivered a special address on Accelerating Green Transition at the ITMA Sustainability Forum, underlining India’s commitment to environmentally responsible and future-ready manufacturing.

CITI continues to work closely with global partners to strengthen India’s sustainability ecosystem. Its recent initiatives include Cluster Connect workshops with the Fair Wear Foundation to prepare Indian exporters for the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). Additionally, CITI and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) have jointly launched the Improving Transparency for Sustainable Business (ITSB) programme to help Indian textile and apparel companies align with global ESG expectations.
