November 13, 2025 | By Textile Sphere India
Alok Industries has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first company in India to receive a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) license under the newly introduced textile standard IS 18739:2024. The announcement coincided with World Standards Day 2025, underscoring the importance of standardisation and quality advancement in the Indian textile sector.
The certification, awarded by the Textile Department of BIS, officially recognises Alok Industries’ compliance with the stringent requirements outlined under IS 18739:2024. This new standard has been designed to elevate quality, consistency, and performance benchmarks for textile products manufactured in India, strengthening the industry’s global competitiveness.
The Bureau of Indian Standards—India’s national standards body—oversees the formulation of standards and grants licenses to manufacturers that demonstrate adherence to prescribed norms.
Receiving India’s first license under IS 18739:2024 positions Alok Industries as a frontrunner in adopting next-generation compliance and quality protocols. As India continues strengthening its textile value chain through quality-driven initiatives and modernised standards, Alok Industries’ certification sets a precedent for other domestic manufacturers. With this milestone, the company reinforces its leadership within the industry and contributes to India’s broader vision of enhancing global trust in “Made in India” textile products.
