Dr. A. Sakthivel has been re-elected as Chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) for an unprecedented fifth consecutive term, marking a historic milestone for India’s apparel export sector. His re-election reflects the strong confidence reposed by industry stakeholders in his leadership, experience, and sustained efforts to enhance India’s global standing in apparel exports.

During his tenure, AEPC has played a critical role in advancing market diversification, supporting trade negotiations, promoting sustainability initiatives, and strengthening policy advocacy. Despite persistent global headwinds, India’s apparel exports crossed US$ 16 billion in FY 2024, driven by focused engagement in key markets such as the United States and the European Union, alongside growing outreach to emerging destinations. Industry leaders have widely acknowledged that consistent leadership at AEPC has been a key stabilising force amid volatile demand conditions and ongoing supply chain disruptions.

The Tiruppur Exporters Association (TEA) has extended its warm congratulations to Dr. Sakthivel, recognising his visionary outlook, inclusive leadership style, and unwavering commitment to exporters across all major apparel clusters. KM Subramanian, President of TEA, noted that Dr. Sakthivel’s continued guidance will be instrumental as the industry strives for higher value addition, stronger compliance alignment, and scalable growth.

Dr. Sakthivel’s renewed mandate comes at a crucial juncture, as India seeks to enhance its global competitiveness and steadily progress towards higher apparel export milestones in an increasingly demanding international trade environment.
