TAI Mumbai to Host Global Conference on Textiles 2030

The Textile Association (India) (TAI), Mumbai Unit, has announced an international conference titled “TEXTILES 2030 – Navigating Geopolitics, Technology, Innovations and Global Expectations”, scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, at Hotel The Lalit, Mumbai.

The conference aims to bring together senior industry leaders, sustainability experts, technology providers, policymakers and global stakeholders to deliberate on the forces shaping the textile and apparel sector over the next decade. Key discussions will focus on evolving regulations, recycling and circularity innovations, geopolitical dynamics and changing global market expectations.

Roop Rashi (IA & AS), CEO, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Government of India, will grace the event as Chief Guest, while Murugan Thenkondar, President & Head – Marketing and Business Development (Fibre Marketing), Cellulosic Business, Grasim Industries Ltd., Aditya Birla Group, will be the Guest of Honour. The Keynote Address will be delivered by Prashant Agarwal, Co-Founder and Joint Managing Director, Wazir Advisors Pvt. Ltd., outlining major structural transitions expected in the global textile industry by 2030.

The conference will also witness the presentation of two prestigious recognitions: the Lifetime Achievement Award to Amrishbhai Patel, Chairman, Deesan Group of Companies, President, SVKM and Chancellor, NMIMS; and the Industrial Excellence Award to Edward Menezes, Executive Chairman, Rossari Biotech Ltd., and Sunil Chari, Managing Director, Rossari Biotech Ltd.

A comprehensive agenda will cover sustainability, circular economy, ESG compliance, renewable energy adoption and textile waste transformation. Speakers include Shyamlal Patnaik of Birla Cellulose on fibre innovation and sustainability; Mikhail Menezes of Rossari Biotech on biosurfactants and next-generation solutions; and Nidhi Kaushik of Kotak Mahindra Bank on global markets and currency trends. Recycling technologies and engineering advancements will be addressed by Sudipto Mandal and Shridhar Dhumal of Oerlikon Barmag, alongside B. Sankar of Perfect Engineering Corporation.

Sessions on renewable energy integration and global compliance expectations will feature experts from TATA Power Renewable Energy, Global Standard gGmbH, and Green Story Europe B.V., while Dr. Leonie Vaas of Hirdaramani Apparel will highlight emerging regulatory risks for apparel manufacturers.

A dedicated panel discussion on Women Leadership Driving Change in the Textile & Apparel Sector, moderated by Neha Gupta, Founder, IFBEC, will showcase perspectives from leading women professionals across industry, technology and sustainability.

According to TAI Mumbai Unit, the conference is expected to serve as a vital knowledge-sharing and networking platform, fostering collaboration and strategic alignment within India’s textile and apparel ecosystem.
