The Ministry of Textiles said the 52 applicants have committed investments worth Rs 6,708 crore, with an expected turnover of Rs 21,186 crore.
The government has approved 52 fresh applications under the third round of the Production-linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for textiles. Of the 52 cleared applications, five are for man-made fibre (MMF) apparel, 19 for MMF fabrics, 18 for technical textiles and ten across multiple segments.
The Ministry of Textiles said the 52 applicants have committed investments worth Rs 6,708 crore, with an expected turnover of Rs 21,186 crore. The approved proposals are expected to deliver a major boost to the textile sector, particularly in MMF fabrics, MMF apparel and technical textiles, it added.
“These investments will enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, promote innovation and strengthen India’s position in the global textile market,” the ministry said in an official statement.
The PLI Scheme for textiles is a key initiative of the Centre, aimed at promoting high-value textile production, attracting investments and generating employment opportunities across the country. Investments of Rs 944.48 crore, turnover of Rs 4,473 crore and exports of Rs 363.55 crore have been reported by PLI participant companies during the first three quarters of the previous financial year (FY26).
“The government remains committed to supporting the growth and competitiveness of the textile industry through targeted policy interventions and stakeholder collaboration,” the ministry added. Earlier this week, the ministry organised a northern zone stakeholder consultation on the Union Budget 2026–27 in New Delhi. The consultation aimed to enable structured dialogue on implementation modalities, identify operational challenges and chart a collaborative roadmap for effective and timely roll-out of the proposed interventions.
Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, said India’s textile industry is expected to grow to $350 billion by 2030, with exports projected to expand significantly. She highlighted the need to drive innovation, strengthen convergence across schemes and build a robust ecosystem that improves cost competitiveness and supports sustainable growth.
